USAID uses the Development Credit Authority (DCA) to enter into credit guarantee agreements with private financial institutions. This enables USAID to encourage financial institutions to lend their own capital to creditworthy but underserved sectors. DCA guarantees are used to support a wide range of development sectors such as micro and small enterprise development, microfinance, agriculture, health, education, energy, infrastructure, and governance.

CMS System Highlights

Easier Transfer to Excel. CMS users can now easily save the visible report fields to an Excel file. Report display screens contain a Download as CSV button which will generate a file that users can load into Excel.

Tutorials now available in English and Spanish. CMS users can now view short videos describing new features of the redesigned CMS. Videos are available at anytime from the Help menu in the upper right hand corner of every screen.

New Development Indicator Report. CMS users can now see a summary of the development indicators for all of their transactions.

USAID Deploys First-Ever Field Investment Officers

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently deployed the first-ever cadre of Field Investment Officers to regional USAID Missions in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Thailand, Egypt, Peru and Ukraine. This overseas presence will allow USAID to inject capital markets expertise into its field offices, ensuring the local private sector becomes a critical component of USAID programming.
